Butterfly Bush - Guinevere

Guinevere Butterflybush, Buddleia davidii 'Guinevere', is a beauty with large, purple to black, fragrant flowers. It is a vigorous grower and prolific bloomer. It makes a wonderful cut flower, and of course, very attractive to butterflies. Graceful green foliage arches with flowers from summer into fall. The common name aptly describes this garden beauty. It comes alive in late spring, but it's worth the wait. Flowers form on current growth. Guinevere is best pruned in spring and will quickly grow back with many flowering canes. It likes full sun, is deer resistant, fragrant, and nice as a cut flower. With the lustrous, dark blue-green foliage, it creates a harmonious balance and a focal point to any yard or garden. Butterfly bushes prefer full sun and must receive eight or more hours of sun a day to thrive and get the best blooms. Cut faded flowers off of bush regularly to keep it blooming throughout the summer. ... more info

Holly - Red Sprite Red Sprite Winterberry, Ilex verticillata 'Red Sprite', is a dense compact plant that produces multitudes of bright red, one half inch fruits that persist throughout the winter. The deep green foliage turns purple-bronze in fall. Winterberries are the "queens" of the fruiting shrub world when ranked for ornamental value. The fruiting branches are great for decoration in the garden or in the house. The leaves drop off the plant in late fall to expose the beautiful berries. You'll need both male and female plants to produce fruits and Red Sprite requires Ilex 'Jim Dandy' for pollination and berry production. A wonderful shrub for winter interest, the Red Spire Winterberry shrub reaches 2-3 feet in height and width.
