Cosmos - Sensation Blend
The Cosmos Sensation Blend,' Cosmos bipinnatus', is just what its name implies, a sensation. The Sensation Blend is a tall, colorful, wild, cheerful plant that blooms all summer. This Cosmos is tall and covered with large 3 to 4 inch white, pink, rose, and crimson flowers. Cosmos begin blooming 10 weeks after seeding and bloom from summer to first fall frost. They like the shorter days of fall and will often bloom even stronger than they do in the summer. The Sensation Blend Cosmos prefer full sun, but they can withstand a little shade. They will thrive in average garden soils. Do not over fertilize or over water. Plant this Cosmos in the spring after the last average frost date. Pepper - Bell - Mandarin The Pepper Bell Mandarin, 'Capsicum annuum (Hybrid)', has a unique glossy orange color with very sweet flavor that combines beautifully with red, yellow and green peppers in a colorful salad. Mandarin Bell Peppers turns from green to an impressive glossy, deep pumpkin-orange color. If you enjoy the sweet flavor of red and yellow peppers, you may really like the unique sweet flavor of the Mandarin. Even under cooler conditions, Mandarin produces very sweet and tasty peppers. Transplant outside in the spring 3 to 4 weeks after last frost date. Note: To get a jump on the season transplant outside, use a walls-of-water or some black plastic to maintain and increase temperatures. Pinch off early flowers to encourage plant growth. Plant in average garden soil with sufficient organic matter. Peppers use quite a bit of water but prefer to be watered deeply and not too often. Blossom pruning will improve fruit size. Pinch off about 50% of the flowers. |
