Daylily - El Desperado
The Daylily El Desperado, Hemerocallis 'El Desperado' (Stamile, '91), has large yellow flowers with a purple eye above a green throat with green foliage. El Desperado will bloom early in the season and then repeat bloom late in the season. It can survive harsh conditions that many other plants can not and prefers full sun for the best performance. Daylilies are some of the easiest plants to grow and are a good choice for any gardener. The will grow in almost any soil and handle drought to wet soil conditions. Astilbe - Key Largo ‘Key Largo’ is known to produce twice as many flowers than other types of Astilbe. The flowers contrast wonderfully with the dark green glossy foliage. Astilbe ‘Key Largo’ blooms in mid summer and is 16-20” tall and a plant width of 18-24”. Do not allow Astilbe ‘Key Largo’ to dry out. Key largo is most successfully grown in a shady area but can tolerate some morning sun. A moist, well-drained area is key for this plant. In order to keep Astilbe looking good for the next year, do not cut it back in the winter, (the old foliage helps protect the plant from winter damage), but prune in early spring. Astilbe can be used as cut flowers, perennial borders or shade gardens with Hosta’s and Ferns. Astilbe is considered to be deer resistant and will attract hummingbirds. |
