Gomphrena - Strawberry Fields

The Gomphrena Strawberry Fields, 'Gomphrena haageana', will delight you with it's vivid, striking red flower clusters. It is a native of Texas and Mexico so they are recommended for areas with hot and humid summers. Strawberry fields has 3/4 inch wide, round, papery. lover-like flower heads. They bloom from summer into early fall. The clover-like vivid red flowers will brighten your garden. Strawberry Fields prefers full sun and will grow in any well drained garden soil but prefers light, sandy soil. They do not require any special care and are fairly drought tolerant. Salvia - Mixed Colors The Mixed Colors Salvia, 'Salvia splendens', has very unusual intensely colored spikes on dense, deep green plants. This plant has a dramatic appearance in mass plantings, border, and pots. The Mixed Colors Salvia have 6 to 8 inch tall spikes of salmon, rose, scarlet, and violet flowers. This plant will do best in full sun, but will thrive and bloom in partial shade. Mixed Color Salvias will do well in in ordinary well-drained garden soil. They should be watered regularly but not to the point of soggy soil conditions. Plant in the spring after the last killing frost date. This Salvia is easy to grow and makes an excellent border plant and is great in containers or planters.
