Hosta - Sun Power
The Hosta Sun Power, Hosta 'Sun Power', is one of the best gold hosta's there is. The large leaves are about 12 inches long by 7 inches wide and are vase shaped. Sun Power requires about 3/4 sun which causes the leaves to explode in true gold color. . . . hence the name Sun Power. The lavender flowers of this hosta appear in early summer on 3 foot stems, however hosta’s are not known for their flowers. Sun Power requires sun 3/4 of the day to bring out the best color and should be planted in any moist, well-drained spot. Dianthus - Fancy Knickers The Dianthus 'Fancy Knickers', Dianthus Hybrid, has elegant white flowers with just a touch of red in the center. Their very compact habit and free blooming nature make the 'Fancy Knickers' Dianthus a stand out both in container gardens and perennial borders. Dianthus will bloom from mid summer to early fall. In order for a longer bloom time, deadhead the blooms continuously throughout the summer. Dianthus needs a sunny site with well-drained soil, but will tolerate some shade in the afternoon and humidity. These fragrant, spicy dove like flowers look wonderful as a border plant, rock gardens, along walks or paths and for edgeing - a very pretty plant. |
