Scabiosa - Isaac House Mix
The Scabiosa Pincushion Flower Isaac House Mix, 'Scabiosa caucasica', is a charming, traditional cottage garden beauty. The blossoms appear as fragile as summer snowflakes but this is a tough, carefree, very hardy plant with few pests or diseases. The flowers are 3 to 4 inches wide and the outer frill of the petals is pink, white, and lavender blue while the center "pincushion" is white with pinkish pins. The Pincushion Scabiosa blooms in early summer into the fall. The Isaac House Mix Scabiosa prefers full sun except in very hot summer climates where some light afternoon shade is recommended. Place these plants in well drained, rich, alkaline soil. Pinch off faded flowers to encourage continued bloom. Plant in the spring after the last average frost date or 6 weeks before first fall frost. The Scabiosa is an excellent cut flower, and they lend themselves to be used in formal flower borders and wildflower gardens. ... get more information
