Veronica - Red Fox Speedwell
The Veronica ‘Red Fox’, Veronica spicata, also known as Speedwell, is an easy to grow perennial that adds beauty to any garden. This upright perennial produces wonderful deep pink flowers that bloom from June till September. With its dark glossy green foliage, it has a plant height of 15” and a spread of 12-18”. ‘Red Fox’ needs a full sun area with well-drained soil. Deadhead the flowers after the first bloom to prolong its bloom time. Veronica can be used as a ground cover, in mass plantings or along borders. Mullein - Snow Maiden The Verbascum Snow Maiden, 'Verbascum hybridum', also known as Mullein, has masses of pure white flowers with yellow stamens. The stalks arise off of fuzzy gray-green leaves, which add contrast to the flower color. ‘Snow Maiden’ has a plant height of 3-4’ and a plant spread of 1-2’ and blooms from late spring into summer. Removing spent flowers to encourage additional bloom time. This low maintenance perennial requires dry to medium soil and should be planted in full sun for best results. Verbascum will tolerate a wide range of soil conditions but must have good drainage or it could be fatal. ‘Snow Maiden’ can be planted in rocky slopes to add color, as a border plant or in cottage gardens. |
