Viburnum - Autumn Jazz® Arrowwood

Autumn Jazz® Arrowwood Viburnum, viburnum dentatum 'Ralph Senior', is a vase-shaped shrub with creamy white flowers blooming in late May to mid-June. This viburnum then produces clusters of blue-black berries, and this fruit is highly favored by birds. The summer foliage is crisp and dark green; the fall colors range from yellow to orange to red to burgundy, but varies in intensity. Its mature form is rounded, but sometimes takes on an upright appearance due to long, upright stems and suckers. It prefers full sun to partial shade; moist, well-drained soil is best, but can tolerate wet sites and some dryness as well; prefers a slightly acid soil. Autumn Jazz® Arrowwood Viburnum grows 10-12 feet tall and 8-10 feet wide. This viburnum is useful for its extreme durability in borders, screens, parking lots, and mass plantings. Viburnum tend to be multi-season plants with ornamental value throughout a large part of the season. ... find out more

Sumac - Smooth The Smooth Sumac, Rhus glabra, is a shade-intolerant pioneer on heavily disturbed sites, and is particularly common along road and railroad rights-of-way. Sumac will often be found within the first year following fire. Smooth sumac is a short-lived pioneer, which reproduces clonally via root suckers. Seed production is moderately abundant, and seeds are dispersed by birds. Growth is rapid. Lifespan is about 20-30 years, though clones can persist for centuries. Fruit is important as winter bird food. It is suited to group plantings in small to large yards. It is especially useful in attracting birds to naturalized yards.
